English speaking practice for work and everyday life

One conversation. Something to work on.

01

Choose a conversation

Pick a situation and a role. Read what your character needs to achieve before you begin.

02

Speak and respond

Use your microphone to talk to the AI. Follow the live transcript and practise responding to the other person, rather than reading a prepared speech.

03

Review and try again

Finish the round to review clarity, grammar, vocabulary and task completion. Choose a useful correction or example phrase for your next attempt.

Conversations you can practise

Examples from the coach’s scenario catalogue. Each is a fictional exercise with a specific task.

A project update

Your draft needs another day. Explain the delay, answer the project lead’s questions and agree a realistic next step. Practise making your request clear.

A job interview

You are interviewing for a customer support role. Explain your experience, discuss a practical example and ask a question about the job.

Agreeing work priorities

Two requests need more time than you have this afternoon. Explain the deadlines to your manager and agree what should come first.

Five business English exercises and a practice routine

Before you start

Is this only for business English?

No. The catalogue also includes everyday situations such as hotel check-in, ordering at a café and asking for directions. Workplace scenarios are useful when you want to prepare for a meeting or interview.

Do I need advanced English?

You can begin with a short, familiar situation. Focus on getting one message across and asking when something is unclear. Use feedback as a practice aid, not a formal language-level certificate.

Does the review assess my accent?

The review uses the conversation transcript to discuss clarity, grammar, vocabulary and the task. It is not a pronunciation or accent assessment, and transcription mistakes can affect the feedback.

How do I get access?

Open the coach in NEXT Workplace and sign in to start practising. Allow microphone access for voice conversations. You get 5 free minutes a day; NEXT+ includes continued coach access alongside live learning and AI tools. In-person events are paid separately.
